Action Youth Boxing Intervention – Pathways into Construction Programme

This contractor has partnered with Action Youth Boxing Intervention (AYBI), a Camden-based charity supporting young people at risk of exclusion from school. Using boxing to develop confidence and transferable skills, AYBI also provides English and Maths education.

As part of their collaboration, they have launched a structured programme that introduces participants to key skills in construction and multi-trade roles. Following the successful delivery of their first core skills workshop, they are now coordinating a series of hands-on sessions led by the subcontractor including live demonstrations in bricklaying, plumbing and more.

In addition, they are working with Regal to help build AYBI a second classroom, expanding their capacity to support more young people in the local community.

By involving learners in the actual construction of their own classroom, it reinforces practical learning and community ownership. Wider adoption could help address skills shortages, improve diversity in the workforce, and set a new standard for delivering social value through inclusive and locally embedded initiatives.
