Communities and Projects Lasting Legacy

This contractor worked with their client and Action Funder to identify four charities and community centres within 1 mile of site that they could partner with for the project duration.

Throughout the project they not only provided funding for community projects identified on the Action Funder site, but they wanted to go one step further. During construction they committed to assisting them through providing expertise, volunteering days, and materials donations.

The client has also written it into their lease agreements that new tenants must then support these charities and community centres throughout their tenancy. They even went one step further to allow each of the charities access to the communal spaces during periods of downtime.

The contractor shortlisted these charities with the foresight to ensure that each of them will not only get benefit of having a construction company to assist them, but also would be able to get use out of the completed building. For example, they are partnered with Holborn community centre who host events for isolated over 65’s in the community. The client has agreed to allow them access to the building during operation to use the roof garden and lounge area. This will allow these otherwise unattainable spaces back to the community.
