Hello Lamp Post

Hello Lamp Post is an initiative that transforms everyday street objects, such as lamp posts, into interactive communication platforms. It allows people to engage with these objects by sending messages via text message or smartphone apps.

Essentially, individuals can “converse” with objects like lamp posts, benches, or even fire hydrants by sending messages to designated numbers or scanning QR codes. These messages trigger responses from the objects, creating a unique and interactive experience for users.

Hello Lamp Post has been used in various cities around the world as a creative way to encourage community interaction, gather feedback, and provide information about local infrastructure or services.

Working with Lincs Coast, this initiative involved setting up 60 location-based High-Level Positions (HLPs) to engage visitors and locals throughout the year, complementing traditional outreach methods.

Surprisingly, conversations initiated by signage remained active even after the beach management activities concluded. The initiative not only provides continuous messaging but also serves as a platform for community feedback, revealing insights into public awareness of coastal infrastructure.

With over 13,300 user messages and 2,900 unique users, the Hello Lamp Post project demonstrates successful community engagement and information dissemination beyond traditional methods.
