International Men’s Day

As International Men’s Day approached, we wanted to draw attention to some critical information to our staff on site. With almost 50% of the population on the island of Ireland, and a large majority of the construction workforce being male, we want to make sure that our workforce not only go home safe but understand the every day risks presented to them.

Males have a higher death rate than women for all of the leading causes of death and men die over five years younger than women. This impacts not only on men themselves, but their families, friends, work colleagues, communities and the economy as a whole.

To mark the event this year, we have put up posters around site with some information and important numbers included. We will also be holding a toolbox talk with the whole site on the day so that we can open a discussion up about some of the issues surrounding men’s health and wellbeing that are often overlooked, such as rest and relaxation, celebrating men’s contribution to community, improving gender relations and providing positive male role models to young people.
