As a project we receive a huge amount of lessons learnt, mainly through email on a weekly basis. This can be valuable information which needs to be reviewed, briefed and in some cases action needs to be undertaken.

The problem with the quantity of this material is that information can be lost or forgotten in time and not embedded on the project. We have therefore as a project started to collate and categorise all lessons learnt we receive on a central database.

This database has its own website with an easy to use search engine and will enable people to search for the activity, equipment, injury type, hazard and company. The database will then filter out the relevant lessons learnt.

Benefits to Project:

In the hazard identification meeting for a new site activity this database can be used to pull out the most important information to ensure we take into account past learning from other projects.

When carrying out senior management engagement tours this database can be used to review lessons learnt which are relevant to the projects current or future activities.
