STEM Activity Day

The Blairdardie site team from BAM Construction recently supported Blairdardie Primary School’s STEM Week as part of our on-going Education Engagement with the school.

At the event, we created four BAM stations which included the following construction related activities:

  • VR Area: We used cardboard VR goggles and iPads to showcase 360 images of the pupils’ new school. The BAM Construct UK VR app was used in the VR goggles to show some of BAM’s current and upcoming projects.
  • BAM Impossapuzzle Challenge: We used MTA learning Kits to set the pupils a challenge of getting a marble from one side of the kit to the other using only the materials provided (rope & marble).
  • Miniature Steel Frame: The site team had a miniature steel frame made up to replicate their new school. Senior Site Manager, Paul Allan provided a demonstration on the frame, talking about the steel that is being used in their new school and then gave the pupils a chance to put the frame together.
  • Selfie Station: The pupils were encouraged to use BAM PPE and photo props to take some ‘selfies’. We used a BAM Careers Photo frame and props to promote different careers in the industry.

All pupils from primary 1 through to 7 attended on the day. They had the chance to rotate around the stations, trying each of the activities and speak to different members of BAM staff about the construction industry, some of the different jobs available and what they can expect from their new school.
