SEND Guidance for Construction

In collaboration with Leeds College of Building, this contractor has developed SEND Guidance for Construction to support inclusivity in the industry. The guidance helps navigate key acronyms, addresses common concerns around Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and offers practical ways contractors can get involved.

By engaging with this initiative, contractors can help create meaningful pathways to employment for SEND students and contribute to building a more diverse and accessible construction workforce. This work represents a key step in supporting all learners and ensuring the industry is ready to welcome and nurture talent from all backgrounds.

This initiative tackles barriers that have long limited inclusion of SEND learners. By offering clear guidance, simplifying industry acronyms, and addressing common employer concerns, it makes the sector more accessible.

This marks a shift toward a more inclusive, skilled workforce and helps the industry tap into a wider talent pool something that has rarely been done in such a focused, collaborative way.
