Prevent Driver Fatigue

Topic Progress:

Many construction workers are at risk of being too exhausted to drive. It is important that management ensures individuals are safe when they are behind the wheel.

To mitigate driver fatigue, management can:

  • Ensure individuals get enough sleep before driving and encourage people to take a break at least every two hours while driving.
  • Make sure everyone is aware of the early warning signs and symptoms of driver fatigue.
  • Adjust working hours and workloads to take into account the amount of time spent commuting to and from work.
  • Educate workers on the importance of getting sufficient rest before getting behind the wheel.
  • Be mindful of individuals who routinely travel long distances as they will be susceptible to fatigue.
