Designing Out Waste

This contractor are a small business with a workforce of three that install, repair and service ten pin bowling equipment.

The company have taken steps to reduce the amount of its waste sent for recycling or to be disposed of to landfill.

When repairing existing ten pin bowling equipment the company noted which items supplied by the original equipment manufacturers had failed.

They have then designed their own, more robust, replacements, which are made locally.

Modifications have included replacing plastic pulley holders with a metal version and heat-treating pins that secure components. This eliminates breakdowns as well as reducing maintenance callouts and the associated carbon emissions.
