Doom Scrolling Wellbeing Campaign

Doom scrolling is a phenomenon where individuals continuously scroll through negative news, distressing content or social media. This is now recognised as detrimental to mental health.

This contractor is targeting this behaviour on site through a campaign that seeks to address these negative effects and encourages workers to break the cycle. As part of the campaign to tackle this issue, they delivered a site wide toolbox talk to operatives and displayed posters which provide helpful information and a QR Code link to a 5 week coaching programme to help you “scroll less and live more”.

Doom scrolling impacts the morale levels within the workplace due to employees turning to aimlessly scrolling on their phones during work and breaks, instead of relaxing and spending time building strong working relationships with their colleagues.

By making people aware of this issue, this will then empower them to make conscious decisions on how to better their life, through small daily changes. The aim is to promote healthier habits for alternative ways to live a day to day life without the constant need to use your mobile phone. Ultimately, this will create a happier and more productive work environment for employees, which will also be setting an example of how we should be living our lives outside the workplace.
